Readily Available Intelligence

This “on-demand intelligence” is no longer limited by the number of employees or their specific expertise. It offers businesses a new way to scale and bridge the “capacity gap” between business demands and human limitations. In fact, 82% of leaders expect to deploy digital workers to augment their workforce within the next 12-18 months. This statistic suggests a proactive approach by leaders to leverage AI for scaling operations rather than solely focusing on automation for cost reduction.

Human-Agent Teams and the “Work Chart”

Traditional rigid organizational charts are evolving into more flexible, outcome-oriented “Work Charts.” These structures leverage a combination of human skills and AI agents to achieve business goals. While the integration of agents across different functions will vary, 46% of leaders report that their organization is already using agents to fully automate workflows or business processes, with customer service, marketing, and product development being top investment priorities. This shift towards “Work Charts” indicates a move away from hierarchical structures towards more agile, task-focused teams where AI directly contributes to specific outcomes.   

The Rise of the “Agent Boss”

The concept of every employee becoming an Agent Boss, managing and delegating tasks to AI agents, is detailed. Leaders expect their teams to be training (41%) and managing (36%) agents within five years. However, a gap is noted between leaders and employees in embracing this mindset. The “Agent Boss” concept implies that managing AI will become a core competency for many roles, requiring training and a new approach to work.   

Microsoft 365 Copilot as the New Interface for AI

The report examines the role of Microsoft 365 Copilot in facilitating human-agent collaboration.¹ The new agents like Researcher and Analyst, as well as the Agent Store, are mentioned. The integration of OpenAI’s GPT-4o for image generation, along with Copilot Notebooks and Search, are highlighted.
